What I’m Excited To Wear for Fall

I’m still wearing my summer wardrobe, as we had a 90 degree day earlier this week and are still seeing highs of 70s and low 80s. But there’s a definite chill in my morning walks, and overall the temperatures seem to be cooling!

As much as I appreciate summer weather (dresses! shorts!), fall and winter are my favorite seasons, and I’m looking forward to bringing out some tried and true pieces. Here’s my short list of what I’m most excited to wear soon:

Shoes

• Vagabond Hedda Sock Ankle Boot These have a more modern take on the ankle sock boot, without being overly trendy. I can easily wear them under straight or wide leg jeans, or with skirts and dresses. And surprisingly, they are actually quite comfortable to walk in!
• Rothy’s Merino Lug Loafers Technically, I was still wearing these during the summer – though they’re definitely more fall-leaning with their wool outer material.

Sweaters

• Quince Ribbed Cotton Sweater this is such a sleek, stylish sweater that can easily be layered under other pieces and is very work-apropro. They advertise it as cotton-cashmere, but beware it’s only 3% cashmere lol. Regardless, I think it’s still a great sweater for its price point. Order your typical size if you want a more fitted look, or size up if you want it to be more skimming.
• Quince Yak Turtleneck Sweater originally reviewed in my Quince Sweater Review; unfortunately, they haven’t restocked this specific style yet, but the crew neck version is in stock and only $50! I love how fluffy and light the yak wool is, while still remaining just as warm as cashmere.
• Everlane Felted Merino Sweater (c/o) I’ve had this for 3 years now, and have loved it so much that I purchased the funnel neck version which is still on sale for smaller sizes! It is SO warm and cozy.
• Everlane Cashmere Boxy Sweater in a departure from my other recs, this one is a bit more midweight, and easier to layer under coats etc. I love the boxier fit, the length hits me perfectly at the top of my hips without feeling too oversized.

Bottoms

• Reformation Val 90’s Jeans in espresso. I recently tried on and reviewed a ton of Reformation Jeans here, and am excited to bring out these deep brown relaxed jeans, in addition to the classic light denim wash version (which is SO soft).
• Me-Made Elizabeth Suzann Wool Florence Pants mentioned in this sewing post. I still feel so lucky to have snagged the ES lightweight wool, from which I made two pairs of Florence-esque elastic waistband pants at a fraction of the original cost!

Outerwear

• The Curated Classic Camel Coat originally reviewed here, I’ve had mine for 5 years now and it is still going strong. Such an easy coat to throw on over any type of layering, while keeping me warm up to 40F weather. Additionally, for temperature controlled environments I’ll be donning my Camel Blazer (unfortunately discontinued).
• Quince Scarf Jacket my original color is discontinued but I love the new cocoa shade !
• Uniqlo Jacket this barn jacket is perfect for transitional weather layering, with a nice corduroy collar for extra comfort. Since sizing is unisex, I got this in a XS which is still plenty oversized to wear over a thin / medium sweater.
• Quince Down Vest and last but not least, my indoor powerhouse during winter. I’ve worn mine so much inside the house (we have terrible insulation) during the winter months. It would be slightly ridiculous to wear a full on jacket indoors on Zoom calls — this is the perfect balance!
