Quince Cotton Boyfriend Sweater Review

If you’ve read my prior Quince reviews, you know that I have mixed feelings about their famous $50 cashmere sweaters. And in the past, I’ve also had not-so-great experiences with cotton sweaters in general. My cotton sweaters of yore were J.Crew sweaters that had a tendency to bag out and lose shape after only one wear.

However, I was on the hunt for a oversized style sweater for the spring, and decided to revisit cotton once more. Specifically, I ordered Quince’s Cotton Boyfriend Crew Sweater after seeing the 1K+ positive reviews on their website. This sweater has a very reasonable price tag of $39.90, and I’ll jump straight to it: it’s well worth the cost and is now my new favorite.

The Review

Fit: I love the fit of this sweater – the front is slightly cropped with a regular length back. As a semi-petite 5’4” with a short torso, I find that this hits at the perfect length. I normally tuck in the front of my sweaters, and don’t have to do that with this one.

Material: So far, I’ve had no issues with any stretching or bagging out. It’s possible that it does a little, but I notice less because it’s a thicker sweater and slightly oversized.

Warmth: Despite being cotton and not wool, this is a surprisingly warm sweater. We’ve had a colder-than-usual spring, with temperatures in the 50’s during the day. I find this is plenty warm when paired with an undershirt like UNIQLO’s lightweight heattech. I’ll update how this sweater fares for slightly warmer temps – I’m hoping that it can be versatile given the breathable cotton material.

Overall, I think this is now my favorite sweater from Quince. Unlike their $50 cashmere sweater which is a bit overhyped, I think this one is under-hyped and worth checking out, particularly if you are of a petite height!
