Biker Shorts Outfits with Everlane Perform Shorts

To be completely honest, I wasn’t totally sold on biker shorts outfits when they first trended last summer. However, the more I’ve seen them around, the more I think they might be alright…

On a more practical note – I was actually in need of a pair for working out. As much as I enjoy my regular leggings, I wanted to try out a proper pair of biking shorts in anticipation of hot summer days. While I have some old running shorts, they are sadly too short (read: chafing) for indoor cycling on the ‘ton.

Mini Review

Unsurprisingly, the Everlane Perform Shorts are exactly what I expected – a shorter version of the Perform Leggings. Like their original counterpart (reviewed here), they are lightweight, comfortable, and quick-drying. 

The 8” inseam is long enough to prevent any seat chafing on a bike, and also modest enough for casual wear. These don’t have side seams, which provides a sleeker look overall – in contrast to these Girlfriend Collective shorts that look, and feel, much sportier.

Outfits

Last summer, I lived in my Everlane easy shorts – unfortunately, they no longer make this style with the 3.5” inseam, which is a shame because they are perfect. I easily wore mine 3 – 4 days a week. All. Summer. Long. With that, I think it’s time to change things up with a different pair of black shorts!

Here are just a few examples of biker shorts outfits that are… older millennial appropriate, shall we say. In order of most dressed up to down:

Bike Shorts + Blazer

Initially, I thought this would look ridiculous – but it is my favorite out of the bunch! In particular, I like that the blazer is long enough to provide coverage on the back.

Bike Shorts + Jean Jacket

Bike Shorts + Button Down

This is ‘less dressy’ due to the slightly exposed midriff. Ideally, I think it works better with a more oversized shirt, but this is the only one I had on hand!

Bike Shorts + Dad Sandals + Nice Bag

Realistically, these next two outfits will be the most frequent!

Bike Shorts + Hoodie

Of course, this is the most casual and probably true-to-form usage of bike shorts – with a pair of white sneakers and cozy hoodie.
