April 2026: It’s the final countdown for the infamous Amex Saks credit. I’ve updated this post one last time with generally in-stock items. It’s slim pickings, but there are still some options!
Lured by a shiny 150K mile sign-on bonus, I caved and opened my first American Express card late last year. The Amex Platinum has a very hefty annual fee at $695 – so maximizing all the various partner credits has been key to making it worthwhile. Thankfully, I’ve been able to use credits for services that I already had prior to getting the card, which means I’m not spending more than I would otherwise.
My current set-up:
- $100 Saks Fifth Avenue
- $200 select airline expenses (I transfer the $200 to United’s Travelbank as cash, which I then use to purchase flights later)
- $200 Uber & UberEATS
- $240 select entertainment expenses (covers my NYTimes subscription)
The $100 Saks credit is actually a $50 credit every 6 months, from January 1 to June 30 and then July 1 to December 31. While Saks predominantly carries expensive designer and luxury brands, I’ve been able to find several contenders that are closer to the $50 mark.
Many of these also make great gifts! So I hope this list is helpful for others trying to find a reasonable purchase for their Amex credit.
Beauty
Unfortunately, it seems like Saks beauty selection is become more narrowly curated – a lot of my previous go-to’s are no longer carried. However, they still have the following:
- Kiehls: A classic. One of the more affordable brands carried at Saks. Unfortunately, it looks like only one product is left nowadays.
- Clinique: If the Kiehls moistuirizer doesn’t speak to you, here’s another classic and more affordable beauty brand
- Le Labo: fragrances and if you’re feeling extra fancy, shampoos and shower gels. They carry the most of the popular unisex favorites like Santal 33, Thé Matcha 26, and Another 13
- Augustinus Bader: Personally, I wasn’t too impressed by their cream but this lip balm comes in right under $50
- Dior: Treat yourself or a loved one to a classic Dior lipstick, right at $50 or a splashy lip gloss at $42
Clothing
There aren’t many options here, but…
- Surprisingly, inventory is still going strong with a good range of SKIMS best sellers
- Quintessential cozy fits with Barefoot Dreams, while most items are above $100, these slippers are $68 and they have several cute baby blankets for $40-$50
- Get ready for summer with Reformation, my favorite jeans from them are marked down by 60%, love this denim minidress, and this elegant linen vest
- Varley for what I can best describe as “country club cozy chic”
- For the men, Carhartt WIP often has t-shirts and pants on sale for under $100
Shoes
Surprisingly, Saks carries several shoe brands that are on the more affordable side:
- Converse: A classic. The original low-top and high-top Chuck Taylors are around the ~$65 mark
- Schutz: Lots of women’s styles – while most are in the $100-$200 range, they often go on sale
Accessories
- Saks Fifth Avenue: Their in-house accessories are around ~$100 for cashmere items like beanies, gloves and more.
- Vince: Same as the above, their cashmere accessories land around ~$100 when on sale. Most recently, I purchased this cashmere beanie for my husband with the credit.
- Maison de Sabres: Small leather goods ranging from bag charms to card holders to watch cases
- And while Bombas are sadly no longer offered, there is still a wide range of men’s socks that can definitely fall under or close to $50.
Home & Food
- Games & Toys: These probably don’t come to mind first when thinking of Saks, but they have a decent collection of aesthetic games. And baby gifts like little Ralph Lauren sets and baby blankets.
- Coffee table books from Printworks and Assouline
- Sugarfina candy sets, pick up a set or two for yourself or as gifts. They’re expensive yes for candy, but admittedly they are very tasty. Honestly, I’d pick up this rainbow set for myself!
